Kim Kardashian West and the Kardashian-Jenner clan have become pioneers of the beauty industry. Whether you are a fan or not, you cannot deny their influence in the market. Best known for the pop culture phenomena reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim is now tapping into the solo makeup entrepreneur space following her younger sister’s mega success with the Kyle Cosmetics line. Her launch of KKW Beauty includes Creme Contour and Highlight Kits and targets women who want to master the 5 Minute Makeup routine.
The KKW Beauty highlight kits come in 4 shades and each shade has a matte and shimmer highlight stick. The line also includes Contour shades that comes with a dual-ended contour stick.
But we were more interested in how Kim’s creation of this line could help existing beauty and skincare regimens…
At $48 per kit, we are pretty sure everyone can’t splurge on the budget to add this to their makeup collection. Especially with so may low-priced drugstore makeup must haves out there. But we do know that everyone can probably learn from the forces that drove Kim to create this brand and from the plethora of information and beauty tips that she shares on how social platforms.
Here is what we learned from Kim Kardarshian West KKW Beauty Line.
- You Can Still Have Wear Makeup and have a Natural Look:
Today’s makeup and beauty influencers have gone absolutely bananas with transformation looks. Often times it’s difficult to even recognize the person after a “full face” is applied. Sometimes it looks great and other times it’s a bit over board. Of course, we are not knocking a full on glam face because every girl loves a 60 minute make up session every now and then, but the Kim and her KKW beauty line is out to make the point that you can still look amazing with make up without going full glam every day.
In fact, in her recent interview with the New York Times, Kim revealed that she hasn’t been wearing much makeup these days. She’s been going for a bronzy look using her her contour and highlight sticks that are creamy.
2. You Can Be A Mom and Still Rock A Makeup Look That Is Low-Maintenance:
Becoming a mom shifts everything in your life. Literally your time is no longer yours. Your days are full up dirty diapers, dirty clothes, dirty dishes and dirty whatever else. You barely have time to shower or take a leak, so of course there is no time for Makeup.
Wrong. Kim’s wants to let moms know that you don’t have to spend hours on complicated looks. Simply find a foundation that matches your complexion, get a contour stick like the one in her KKW Beauty line and play with the lighting on your face for a minute or two and you can be done. We agree with Kim. Sometimes, something as small as washing your face and putting on a little bit of makeup can transform a mother’s chaotic day into a good one. Even if only for a second and one look in a mirror, that feeling of “I got this… I can do it” is so powerful.
3. You Should Adapt Your Makeup Choice As You Get Older to Help With Aging Issues That Might Arise:
Kim revealed that her makeup line will include anti-aging formulas to reach an older demographic since many makeup line target younger people in their 20’s. Her KKW Beauty line is about tips and tricks to correct imperfections like hyper-pigmentation, line, wrinkles and under eye dark circles.
This got us thinking. Maybe your makeup should evolve just like you do. Aging is inevitable but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. There are products, like Kim’s, in the market that can help you perfect your look no matter what your age is.
4. You Can Still Wear Makeup Well When You Are Too Busy for A Full Face of Makeup:
Spending an hour or more on makeup is a bit ridiculous. Who really has time for that. Those of us with jobs, and kids, and households and no glam squads… we definitely don’t. Kim’s line is all about the 5 minute makeup look. With a couple of essentials, like foundation and maybe a nice lip color or gloss, you can actually be done in two minute or less but a contour and highlight here or there can make you *pop* under 5.
5. A Complete Makeup Collection Doesn’t Have To Contain Hundreds of Dollars in Products and Tools:
A two sided stick. That’s the start of this beauty line. It’s proof that sometimes you don’t need much to make it work. We always say, use what you have to get what you want. This saying holds true with makeup too. Many Youtubers and social media influencers make things more complicated than it is. They show off all of these products and can make you feel that you need all of that to get the look that you want.
You don’t. I would argue that you don’t even need makeup brushes if you don’t have the money to get them. I recently ran into a makeup artist that blended all of her looks with her fingers. It looked pretty good if you asked me.
6. No Matter What Your Enemy Think,Wear The Type of Makeup That Makes Your Feel Alive:
Kim has received a bit of backlash for the evolution of her look. Some people are not liking her fresher, dewier look but just like all of us, she has changed and grown. As we get older everything adapts. It’s okay to transform your look, your mindset, your style or whatever else it is that you want to change to reflect your current place in life. Her journey into motherhood and her overall life journey has definitely impacted her style and she is proof to all of us that change is good. She has moved on from the under-eye powder and concealer that she once loved and now she is into a makeup look that makes her feel tan and more alive.
